So we started this production with a Young Ocean Leader representing Seychelles called Jeremy Raguain. Jeremy approached us after our Transparency Initiative Uncensored Series project about the idea of putting a mini documentary style video together that was going to be streamed on the SOA #Defendthedeep: Global Youth Mobilizing To Protect The Deep Sea event.

We jumped at the idea and with a deadline only 3 weeks from starting, we had a lot to do. We wanted a powerful message to come across in the production with meaningful imagery, deep conversation from the interviewees all whilst giving the right relativity and flow between the participants. Alex, our director, put together a clever yet easy to follow structure that really gave the video its feet in front of a worldwide audience.

The journey included a few boat trips, which we honestly didn't mind ;) but had to still get the footage we were looking for for b-roll. We also ventured into the Seychelles Cap Ternay Marine National Park where we shot in a mini river just in land from the beach and managed to get some amazing drone footage. We couldn't have ended the video with a more impactful shot, and alongside Jeremy's final speech, it drew emotions from all sides.

Having not known much about this topic, it was a breathe of fresh air to meet and learn about such a great Seychelles young leader in his field. Jeremy deserves upmost respect for his relentless efforts in various fields & organisations in creating awareness on matters that pass most of us by everyday.

Take a look at the documentary on our video reel!
